  2. Crystalline structure: Steel generally has a ferritic or pearlitic crystalline structure depending on the carbon content, while duplex stainless steel is characterized by a biphasic structure composed of austenite and ferrite in almost equal proportions.
  3. Corrosion Resistance: Duplex stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel. This is due to the presence of chromium in the chemical composition of duplex stainless steel, which forms a protective layer of chromium oxide on the surface of the material, preventing corrosion.
